Order of the Dragon
From the Ordo Draconum to Dracula.
A medieval chivalric order of aristocracy and monarchs, founded on the 12th of December in the year of Our Lord 1408, by the King and Queen of Hungary. Among the members of the order, known as "Draconists", Vlad Tepes II, was the only Romanian to join the order, and was given the surname Dracul, which means dragon. Vlad's son, Vlad the Impaler, was given the name Dracula, which means "Son of the Dragon" in Romanian.
